I'm not a maritimer per se, but I have family there and love to visit. Halifax is a beautiful place to pass a couple of weeks...

Halifax is indeed lots o' fun. My brother lives just outside of town with his family. I don't get down nearly enough.

But I am off to spend Thanksgiving with the whole fam damily in Saint John tomorrow. Saint John is like Halifax, only sad.

oh, but friends we have to take the maritimes for what they are. If you can put up with the rank in Saint John, it can be a wonderful little city. And often, it's not the cities that are interesting anyways.

I'm new and just wanted to say "hi". I lived in Halifax for close to 15 years until a few years ago. It's a great city, and I miss it a lot.

I grew up in Saint John and living centrally (and not uptown) we didn't get a lot of the 'smell' of the Irving Pulp mill....nor did we see much of the 'ring around the city' that's prevalant some days. Living VERY close to Rockwood Park was great tho! I would loose myself in the woods there all the time and had a number of great trail rides (both on horseback and mtn. bike) during the summers. THe only place in the (middle of the) city where you can go and not hear anything but the lions roaring at Cherry Brook Zoo! :)

My folks have since moved out to Hampton and it's got its own charms...kayaking's good on the river! :)

        Just my $0.02

I love Saint John, too! There is a lot of adventure very close... kayaking, caving, biking, climbing.

I'm on Grand Manan at the moment... helping a friend who owns a bunch of cabins on Castlia marsh. Also beautiful place: www.sea-landadventures.com
